Yesterday, we reported that Pokémon Sword & Shield was the best-selling Switch game in Japan. We also regret that we may have to wait until the next quarterly results for more details. Although we’ve noticed that Nintendo sometimes releases a press release – and that’s exactly what they did!
It turns out that more than 6 million copies of the new Pokémon games have been sold worldwide in just three days (Friday – Sunday). If we dig a little deeper, we know that in the United States alone 2 million copies were sold in the first two days, and according to Famitsu, in Japan about 1,365,544 copies were sold during the weekend. Of course, this last figure does not take into account digital sales in the online shop, so others were also sold in this way. We don’t know the exact figures for Europe, but if you count the physical and digital sales in all areas, it would be 6 million in the north. Pokémon Sword & Shield is the most impressive Pokémon game ever released in the United States. It should be noted that the number of 6 million customers has been depleted, and not just the extra stock on store shelves. Read on for more information about public relations:
OFFICIAL CONFESSION:

What’s more, the game sold just over 2 million copies in the first two days in the US, making it the biggest Pokémon release of all games.
Last weekend, millions of people embarked on the Pokémon journey to the new Galar region, said Nick Chavez, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Nintendo of America. With such a groundbreaking launch, Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield have proven to be two must-have games this holiday season.
Since the release of the Pokémon Red Version and Pokémon Blue Version games in 1996, more than 240 million copies have been sold worldwide**.
In Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, players embark on a journey through the Galar region, catching, fighting and trading a variety of Pokémon, meeting a cast of unforgettable characters, and uncovering the secrets behind the legendary Pokémon Zacian and Zamazenta. Set in the wilderness that stretches between the various towns and villages of the Galar region, players must explore a vast uninhabited wilderness filled with Pokémon to fight and conquer. In the new Co-op Max Raid multiplayer battles, players and three other players compete locally or online*** against the giant, super-powerful Pokémon known as Dynamax Pokémon.
